Srinagar, April 06 (KNO) : National Conference (NC) vice president and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah said that AFSPA could have been revoked from many districts in the Valley in case Congress had talked about its review in 2014 elections. “I believe we need to bring back the normalcy in the valley alike it was before 2014,” Omar told reporters on the sidelines of workers convention at TRC Kupwara. He said that there are states across country including Arunachal Pradesh and others where AFSPA was revoked and same should be done in Jammu and Kashmir too. According to KNO correspondent, Omar blamed PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for continuous summons by National Investigation Agency to religious cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, saying that, “it was 2017 when NIA registered an FIR against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq; it’s due to that case, NIA is continuously asking him to present self in Delhi.” “It's PDP that has worsened the situation in Kashmir and have introduced GST, Foods Security Act,” he said. He also said that enforcement of GST in the Valley has damaged and eroded the special status of the State, saying the recent record of PDP was very clear to all. “I ask PDP to identify single thing that he has brought from Centre and enforced in Jammu and Kashmir, which has caused any sort of damage or tinkering to special status of valley,” he said. “Mehbooba can level allegations against me but what matters is that they have to consider the problems and erosion they have caused during their tenure in valley,” he said.(KNO)
